There are quite a few organic items on the shelves these days. Don’t forget to eat as many fresh organic fruits and vegetables as possible. Many of the processed organic foods are not equal to making your own from fresh ingredients. The idea of going organic is not to still buy the same old processed foods, but to have a healthy change in your eating habits. If you have to have some snacks or cookies, I still say organic is good, but choosing a fresh food is so much better and will give you more energy. You can make healthier organic versions of your favorite snacks at home by adding oats to your cookies and breads, using less sugar, and adding less fat.

Don’t forget to eat whole grains, nuts, legumes and plenty of fresh salads with lots of vegetables and make a nice fruit salad while you are at it.

Are you eating plenty of fruits and vegetables? You should be having the equivalent of a nice sized fruit salad, a huge green salad with lots of various veggies and some cooked veggies, every day. You can have your fruits in pies, yogurt, desserts. You can use your veggies to dip into a yogurt-peanut butter dip. Steam some carrots, green beans and asparagus and keep them around to grab and snack on cold. They are so yummy! Cut up a lot of fruits and veggies daily and put them in the front of the fridge. Grab them first. If you have kids or even adults who don’t get their five-six-seven a day, then add them to foods. If your kids like pancakes, make banana nut pancakes or blueberry pancakes. Top French toast or waffles with fresh fruit. Make a low sugar cobbler or pie for them to enjoy. Carrot cake, pumpkin bread, zucchini bread and banana bread are also ways to get them to eat their fruits and veggies. Sometimes just putting out a delicious looking fruit bowl will get them to grab that piece of fruit.

Don’t forget to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables daily and make them ORGANIC for better health and quality!

Choose berries as often as possible. I have always loved berries as far back as I can remember. I always chose the boysenberry yogurt, the blackberry pie. The raspberry cheesecake. The more berries, the better. I love buying berries fresh, but you can also get them frozen for the winter. You may want to think about getting some berry bushes and planting your own. The health benefits would make up for all your hard work! Plus you would have some to freeze for the winter. Imagine all the wonderful things you could make!

Get to work!

I have some great news!! We visited the 99 cent store today and I was happy and amazed to see canned “Organic” tomato sauce, beans and various vegetables!!!!!! I have been paying two to three dollars a can for the same organic products at specialty markets. So it is happening already. Organic will soon be the “norm”. YAY! It is happening much faster that I thought it would, and it makes me very happy.Eating organic, shopping organic, growing organic will only help this world that we live in. It makes me feel so hopeful and proud of the organic movement. This generation of children will be healthier and better performing individuals overall from eating foods without pesticides and added chemicals. Wow…I could sing and dance…this makes me so excited.

I congratulate all who have made this possible. Many people have been working hard for years to make this happen, and they deserve the credit. Rewards will be a better environment, happier & healthier people, new generations of people that will feel better and think better and perform better! An organic toast to All who have played a part in brining this to fruition…you are my heroes!

I just found a great idea on the internet!!! I live in sunny, hot Southern California and this idea is so astounding, I can’t believe it’s not everywhere!! Whenever I go anywhere, I always look for a shady spot to park. It is difficult to find a shady spot because that is what everyone else does too! All the nice shady spots are taken! We all need more solar panels, so why not use solar panels to give the consumers what they want? WE NEED SHADE!!! There are days I want to go shopping, but it is just too hot. I hate getting back into my hot, sunbaked car after a day of being in a cooled building.

What a novel idea! I love it! We can get energy from the sun, and shade for our cars. What a brilliant, awesome idea!! Let’s get started!!

Today we spent the day cleaning up my elderly parent’s huge yard. They have both been ill, and had let their yard get out of shape. So, my three kids and I brought plenty of drinks from home starting with reverse osmosis water, iced coffee, ginseng tea, and green tea.If you plan on helping out, be sure to bring plenty of healthy drinks, especially water if you are going to be working outside. Bring a good organic lunch to help get you through the day. We wore hats on our heads to keep the sun off of our face and gloves on our hands to protect our hands from all the bugs, dirt, sap, and tools.

We had a great day helping out the folks, and a great day just being outdoors in the great autumn sunshine. My eldest son climbed a tree to trim it and did an excellent job of it. And my other two and I edged the perimeter and pulled weeds and took out a ton of ivy that had overgrown a fence and spread out onto the sidewalk. I love the way well kept ivy looks. A lot of the ivy we took out was old growth with tons of dead leaves underneath.

I am glad we were able to help out, but I have a feeling I am going to be sore tomorrow. Oh well, we are going on our Haunted Halloween Hike, so that ought to loosen up my muscles from the over exertion of today. I will keep you posted!

One of my favorite shows to watch on TV is Bones. I was so pleased to see that they put the organic angle in their discussion. I loved it! I mean I love the show anyway, but I think organics are going everywhere now!!I don’t watch much else on TV, except for reruns of Star Trek Voyager. They never talk about organic foods on Star Trek. What with replicators and hydrponics, I am sure they are eating only the necessary ingredients, without any pesticide residue or chemically altered…wait their food is chemically formed. Oh well! That is just a show that takes place in the future.

Anyway, like I was saying. I am very happy to see everyone talking about Organics. It is not just about an apple that is not chemically treated and free of pesticide residue, but it IS a way of life, a way of taking care of our beautiful planet!

P.S. If you don’t know why I posted a picture of an alligator, watch Bones! It’s kinda funny. Might make you go Organic!
